time linits for support

my husband left in oct 2008 and moved to out west,never offered child support or spousal support,what is the time line or limit to file to get support..have been told by a few lawyers that it will be very costly to fight him.

There is no statute of limitations on making claims for spousal support, however, the longer you wait, the harder it will be to prove to the court that you need support. There is also the issue of entitlement that needs to be established.

Regarding child support, claims should be made in a timely fashion. Courts are remiss to make large awards for child support where the recipient has not made any effort to collect child support over the years.
