My husband of four yrs who has been both emotionally and physically abusive told me two weeks ago that he wants a divorce at midnight. The next day he called the police and alleged that I have been beating him. This man has a black belt and works out at a MMA gym. I was arrested and charged with 2 assaults and 1 assault with a weapon (he claims I threw a phone at him). I was taken out of the house, ripped away from my 3yr old son and have an undertaking to stay away from him and my house. I went to the police with medical records of previous and recent injuries from his abuse. The police said the case is closed and I have to see a JoP. I went to the JOP and now I have to personally lay charges. I feel my life has been destroyed. How could the police believe this man? How do I go back home and get my belongings? I have been stripped off of dignity and every right a woman could have in this country. How could the legal system be manipulated like this. I have no criminal records and my education level is at a doctorate level. Not only he has destroyed my life but he has also destroyed my career since I can not activate my medical licensee bc of these charges. Please help me. Thank you.

I really do need to speak with you to go through multiple criminal law and family law considerations. As a preliminary comment only, you need to obviously defend against the criminal charges while also seeking an immediate family law Order regarding your 3 year old son. If you do not act immediately regarding your son you will weaken your case. Once again, I really need to speak with you, so please call me for a free consultation.
