They refused acknowledgement of documents

Anonymous Asked:

Division of property and asset's was dealt with back in 2001. I thought at this time it included my divorce and it did not. I am getting remarried and filed Sept 2014 for Simple Divorce. I was unable to locate him till recently and had a process server serve the documents. His family started harassing my Daughter as she was the one to obtain an address for me, and threatening to come to my home now that i had to put my address on there.(i had restraining order at time in 2001). They refused acknowledgement of documents and saying it was not served properly. Which in fact it was, I am waiting for the 5 days / then 30 day count to see if i get anything back and or to file rest of package. Because of the attack from his Family should i proceed the final with a lawyer? its been 15 years and only asking for Divorce. Can he stop this , delay this ? i am getting remarried this Sept and need this dealt with fast and without so much stress again and having to move all over again.
Please help

Your question mentions that you are getting remarried in September. Thus, it is important that this be finalized and, accordingly, I respectfully suggest that it is better if you simply call me at 877-668-9386 for a free consultation so that I can provide you with as much guidance as possible given your September marriage date.

(The information provided above is general, not legal advice, as circumstances vary from case to case. As well, generally speaking, the above information relates to Ontario law.
