He begs that he'll be better and I forgive him

Anonymous Asked:

We have been living for 20 years, legally married, but physically and mentally separated years ago. We lived separated (in separate house) when it was financially convenient for 3 years. But every time he begs that he'll be better and I forgive him. I have a kind heart, and he takes advantage of that all the time.He is abusive, aloof about family problems, has no future plans for his family and never saves any money for a house or his son. Our son has been abused and neglected and now has grown to hate his father. He is 19. We had applied for divorce twice, but every time he cries and begs for me to take it back. It;s been like that and I really need a firm hand to pull me out of this situation. I am working. My son will be going to University.

If you wish to separate then please telephone me at 877-668-9386 for a free consultation. Assuming that you are living in Ontario we can send a demand letter to him to start the negotiations. If he will not be reasonable and negotiate a fair separation agreement with you then we can commence a Court Application. He will then have no choice but to respond within 30 days. If you have truly decided that you no longer wish to be in the marriage then we will help you to extricate yourself in a fair and reasonable manner, which will include resolving the support issues (child and spousal support) and your fair share of the property (known at the equalization of Net Family Property.)

(The information provided above is general, not legal advice, as circumstances vary from case to case. As well, generally speaking, the above information relates to Ontario law. Thus, if you wish legal advice that you can rely upon for your specific case, or if you are making inquiries where Ontario law may not apply, please contact Douglas Briand for a free consultation).
