When does child support end?

If a child is 18, graduated from school, has a job and is paying rent or room and board to the custodial parent, does the other parent continue to pay child support? When does child support end? When does paying child support end? In BC the age is 19 to be an adult. Thank you.

It depends. Based on what you describe above only, the answer is: Yes, child support continues at least until the child turns 19 which is the age of majority in BC. See the Farden v. Farden case from the BC Supreme Court and the decision of Darlington v. Darlington from the BC Court of Appeal – each of which set out the law regarding support for children 19 and older. The Darlington case also summarizes the provisions of the Child Support Guidelines regarding support for children over the age of 19.
