If I was married in Canada must my divorce be filed in Canada? I have since moved to Michigan, USA, with my husband, but am there on a visa; still have my Canadian citizenship. Second, if it is not a requirement for the divorce to be filed in Canada, can it be filed in a U.S. court when I'm not a citizen of the U.S.?

It is not necessary to file for divorce in Canada in order to obtain a divorce for a Canadian marriage. Most countries will permit you to file for a divorce as long as you meet the minimum residency requirements. I would recommend you communicate with an attorney from Michigan to see what the requirements are for filling in that state. In order to file in Canada you must have been a resident of a province for at least one year prior to the introduction of the divorce case before the Courts.
