Hi. I am a Canadian and have been working in Phoenix, AZ for 1.5 years, and also separated with my wife for 1.5 years. She lives in Toronto, and agreed uncontested divorce and spouse support I suggested. We both have no property, no debt, no kids. My concern is, if I file the divorce in Ontario, how many times I have to fly back to Toronto to present myself in court or any other place? Thanks very much.

If you simply wish us to obtain an uncontested divorce for you, then by definition after we issue the Application and serve your wife she will not defend by filing an Answer. Assuming that she does not file an Answer then it is not necessary for you to attend in Toronto at all. That includes the initial preparation of the Application. So, in short, if this is truly an uncontested divorce situation we will not need to meet whatsoever. For the original signatures that we do require we can scan and e-mail the documents to you and you can print them off and take them to a Notary Public and have them signed in your location. You can then courier them back to us. This would only be necessary on one occasion. If you wish to discuss this matter you are welcome to telephone me at (877) 668-9386 for a free consultation.
