I am receiving child support. Both of us live in Gatineau, Quebec. In a month I'm moving to Ottawa, Ontario. How will moving to another province affect my child support?

The effect of your move will depend on how contested the move is and whether or not your spouse is in agreement with changing the support guidelines that are applicable. Strictly speaking you could petition the courts to change the child support guidelines to reflect your move. Whether you are divorced or common law, the move will alter the applicable guidelines. This change will not be automatic insofar as only a court order can change the child support that is payable. Note however, that it is permitted under law, and the usual practice is to maintain the original child support guidelines even if you have moved to a different province.
