Ex's lawyer revoked license

Anonymous Asked:

I have a question that I hope you can help me with, I have been in a divorce settlement for over 2 years now. I have done everything that my lawyer has requested of me, my ex and I came to an agreement, which was signed by both of us. I received half of the settlement, then the other half was put into my Ed's lawyers trust. His lawyer's license has been revoked, and he still has almost $48,000.00 of my agreed settlement. My lawyer will not respond to countless attempts to contact him, what can I do now? Can a lawyer steal money that was entrusted to him, get away with it? I a at a loss now? And I don't have the funds to pursue this....please advise...

It is important to determine whether that lawyer received the trust monies before or after the license was revoked and the reasons why the license was revoked. It's quite possible that the trust funds are being held in the Unclaimed Trust Fund held with the Law Society. You can obtain more details of the situation simply by phoning the Law Society.
