My spouse and I are going through an amicable Separation. We have decided to draft up our own Separation Agreement. It needs to be reviewed and signed off by a Lawyer in order for both of us to obtain financing for new mortgages. Approximately how much would something like this cost?

Thank you for your enquiry. It really depends on the quality of the Separation Agreement. It is normally cheaper for us to meet with a client, take their “wish list” for what they want to see in an agreement, and then draft a proper agreement; as opposed to having to fix up an agreement drafted by a non lawyer. It takes us only approximately two to three hours to draft most agreements, which is why we only ask for a $1,500 retainer for Separation Agreement files.
