Is it possible to get a divorce first and then deal with division of assets?

Yes, however there are limitation periods regarding the division of property: 6 years from the date of separation or 2 years from the date of a divorce, which ever is earlier. You may be precluded from seeking a division of property upon the expiration of the limitation periods.
