My common law partner and I have been separated for 8 mths, we have agreed to the division of the house but are not sure if the RRSPs and my pension are entitled to be split as well. Once the separation agreement is signed, is it simply a matter of bringing that document to the family courts to be finalized?

There are no set rules for the division of property among common law spouses. The division of assets is based on the concept of “joint family venture”, unjust enrichment, trust principles etc. It can be very complicated. You should seek counsel.
