Can I give the child support directly to my daughter?

Anonymous Asked:

My daughter is turning 18 in November 2015 and she and my ex wife are moving to Toronto August 2015 to live with her boyfriend of 6 years. My daughter will be living with them at least the 1st school year. Our divorce agreement was signed here in Quebec. Can I give the child support directly to my daughter ?

Unless otherwise specified in your divorce agreement, support will continue to be payable to your ex-spouse. This can be changed however through agreement with the mother and your daughter or by judgment by the Court.

Also, if your agreement does not provide for a particular scenario once your daughter reaches majority, it could be possible to have child support adjusted to reflect her new actual needs. You can lookup this website's section on how child support is calculated for adult children pursuing higher education for more information on this topic.
