I and my husband have signed a separation agreement almost two years ago. We still live in our matrimonial home but separate lives . We are not considering a divorce right now. Does one of us have to move out to make the separation legal ? When I filed my taxes last year the accountant told me that I couldn’t do it as “separated” because we were still at the same address … We are staying in the same house for our child and economical reasons ..what do you suggest at this point…

    This is an accounting question. It may be necessary to process the Divorce. Check with your accountant the impact of your receipt of any government benefits if you obtain a Divorce but continue to live separate and apart under the same roof.
